Superior Radiant Products helps earn Carego Holdings Inc LEED® Gold Certification.

Superior Radiant Products(SRP) has been promoting Green Building technology long before the term was coined. In fact the founding partners chose ‘radiant only’ technology because they could build one of the world’s finest infrared heaters and that infrared heating was the most efficient use of precious non renewable energy resources.

November 25, 2003 marked a date, when ground was broken, that would see SRP become a contributor to a building which would become Canada’s first industrial building to receive a LEED® Gold award. The building was designed and is operated by Carego Holdings Inc of Hamilton, Ontario. Operating as Steelcare it is one of the most sophisticated warehouses in North America. The mechanical contractor chose SRP’s MA and LA heaters to handle the challenges of temperature and humidity requirements set forth by Steelcare. Steelcare warehouses specialty steels used by international automakers. The 80,000 square foot facility is almost completely computer controlled.

Demetrius Tsafaridis, President & CEO, Carego Holdings Inc. states “Computer controlled natural gas fired infrared heaters warm only the product in the computer modeled zones. Incoming product is temperature scanned, rapidly brought to a pre-determined temperature and moved into storage. Our gas and electric bills are ridiculously low compared to our other facilities. Our gas supplier said we had better get our meter checked because it shows we are using way too little gas.” “SRP believes in promoting Green Building and congratulates Steelcare on being the first industrial building in Canada to be certified LEED® Gold. We are proud to have our gas-fired infrared radiant tube heaters included in this LEED® project helping to contribute to Steelcare earning 8 out of a maximum of 10 points in the ‘Optimize Energy Performance’ category,” said Eric Willms, President, SRP.
