Founded in 1913, Lakeland College has seen many changes over 89 years of operation. A huge indoor riding arena on campus required a more efficient method of heating. Based on heat calculations, design layouts and comparison data provided by Qualitec Distributors in Alberta, a combination of Superior Radiant Products’ Premier VS and "L Series" infrared heating equipment was installed with not only considerable consumption savings, but vastly improved comfort conditions. The old heating system was forced air unit heaters, total capacity for the horse barn and attached riding arena was 2,000 MBH. It was replaced with Premier VS System with a total capacity of 1,500 MBH. With two Premier VS Panels, all zones are controlled by remote sensing stats.
	Success …. Lakeland College monitored the gas costs and gas consumption data since installation of the infrared heating systems. The initial prediction completed by Qualitec Distributors in May of 1999 was met exactly; a fuel savings of 39% was obtained. Noteworthy is the fact that the two “L” Series heaters were added to a previously unheated area. The actual fuel consumption includes these units, which means more square footage is being heated for 30% less fuel! In addition to the actual consumption savings, the customer reports vastly improved comfort in the entire building, which previously was hard to heat in the cold weather. Lakeland College has expanded from the small agricultural college it once was to the modern community college that you see today by keeping pace with technology.
