How Do We Save Energy in Addition to Optimizing Controls?
- With the most efficient reflectors in the industry, our infrared radiant heating eliminates heat stratification in the hangar. This means heat stays on the ground where it’s needed instead of accumulating at the ceiling. Lower temperatures at the ceiling reduce heat losses through the roof, maximizing efficiency.
- Heated objects and floors act as thermal storage, aiding in rapid heat recovery after hangar doors are opened and a cold aircraft is introduced. This significantly reduces the additional energy required to bring the hangar back to operational temperatures.
Key Benefits of the VS Modulating Infrared Heating System
Our CV Modulating Infrared Heating Systems provide significant advantages for largescale applications like aircraft hangars:
- Energy Efficiency: Our systems modulate to match heat output with demand, reducing energy waste and lowering costs.
- Even Heat Distribution: Unlike forced-air systems, infrared heat directly warms objects and surfaces, preventing cold spots.
- Lower Operating Costs: The modulation feature ensures optimized fuel consumption, leading to significant savings.
- Quick Response Time: The system adapts in real time to maintain ideal working conditions, increasing employee comfort.
- Reduced Carbon Footprint: By using less fuel, our VS system reduces emissions and aligns with sustainability initiatives.
- Advanced Control with SRP Accu-Rate Control Panel*: The Accu-Rate Pro Custom Control Panel offers seamless integration with the VS system, providing precise heat regulation, improved zonal control, and automated efficiency optimization. Additionally, it features burner monitoring, either individually or per zone, allowing for real-time diagnostics and enhanced system performance tracking. This ensures better comfort, greater energy savings, and user-friendly operation for large-scale heating applications. (*Only available in North American Market)
Annual Carbon Footprint Savings
By implementing our CV Modulating Infrared Heating Systems, Air Canada hangars achieve a substantial reduction in carbon emissions. Based on a 50% energy savings assumption and 2,500 operating hours per year, here’s the breakdown:
Total Energy Consumption Without CV System:
»»»278 MWh × 2,500 hours = 695,000 MWh/year
Energy Saved with VS System (50% savings):
»»»695,000 MWh × 50% = 347,500 MWh/year
Carbon Savings Calculation (117 lbs CO₂ per MMBTU for natural gas):
»»»347,500 MWh × 53 Kg CO₂/MWh = 6550 Metric Tons CO₂ saved per year
What Does This Mean?
🚗 Equivalent to removing 1,366 cars from the road annually
🏡 Equal to the energy used in 712 homes for a year
Conclusion
Our CV Modulating Infrared Heating Systems are not just delivering superior heating performance – they are transforming the way large spaces like aircraft hangars operate, saving energy and reducing carbon emissions. With over 109 systems installed and 95 million BTU of heating capacity, we are proud to be at the forefront of energy-efficient heating solutions for aviation and industrial applications.
